Kenneth and Sue Fellers Family Scholarship

The FellersSue (Hildreth) Fellers sat at the piano in a Cherokee nursing home, pressing the keys to bring memories and enjoyment to the residents in the form of hymns and ‘30s, ‘40s and ‘50s tunes.  What started as a room with only two sleeping ladies swelled to a roomful as Sue’s piano playing attracted others.  Soon, she noticed many in the room singing along, and Sue thought to herself, “Who will do this if we don’t have musicians.  It’s just not the same as pushing a button.” More

Don and Donna Benson Scholarship

Benson FamilyA great debater. Sports fanatic. Family man. Billy Parkenfarker? All of these can be attributed to one man, Don Benson. In his 70 years on this earth, he did the things he loved and loved the people that surrounded him, none more than his family. So it was only right that the family he loved establish a scholarship in his honor. The Don and Donna Benson Family Scholarship was established for students attending Northwestern Oklahoma State University. More

Dick and Thamazin Harrison Scholarship

This scholarship will be available to anyone who seeks the benefits of higher education at Northwestern. The only stipulations are the student must be continuing their education and have at least a 3.0 GPA. This scholarship is meant to help any student regardless of major or home town and can be applied to any educational expense. The sole purpose of this scholarship is to offer relief in any way possible. The Harrison’s daughter and son-in-law, Kelli and Brock Schnebel, have endowed the scholarship in honor of her parents. Wisdom Family Foundation Gives Funds fo Agriculture Chair

Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s new agriculture education program received a major endorsement as the Wisdom Family Foundation, Inc., has given the school $250,000 to endow a faculty chair position in agriculture. More

Wisdom Family Foundation Endowed Chair in Art

Wisdom Endowed Chair in ArtTo many people, the late Grace Wisdom was a successful professional in the banking industry and a community leader. Few people outside of her family knew one of her greatest passions – a love for the visual arts.

“We all have interests that provide balance in our lives,” said her daughter, Dr. Peggy Wisdom. “She had a passion for art.”More

Orilla J. Stout Scholarship

The Orilla J. Stout Scholarship will be reserved for those students attending the Northwestern-Woodward campus and who reside in Woodward County. Recipients must be incoming freshman with a high school grade point average of at least 3.0. First preference will be given to applicants seeking a degree in education. More

Campbell Faculty Chair

With their family deeply rooted in agriculture and the demand for quality agricultural programs on the rise, Don and Wanda Campbell decided to establish a faculty chair in agriculture to not only help feed the need for the program but also honor their late daughter Candace DeAnn. More

Barker Feature

The mention of Jim and Patty Barker anywhere within the Northwestern family perks ears and turns heads. Whether it is because you have read Jim’s “Sports Spasms” in the Alva Review-Courier or you’ve caught yourself in a warm conversation with Patty, the Barkers make you feel comfortable to be a Ranger. Maybe it is their long family history in Alva and Northwestern that has brought you to cross paths with this couple. No matter the instance, Jim and Patty have made it possible for many future Rangers to not only keep their heartfelt legacy intact but to keep the Northwestern legacy thriving. More


Bixler Donation

In 1968, Bill Bixler, like most college students, was not thinking about how he could give back to the university that would eventually bestow upon him two degrees. Bill was just trying to get good grades and win basketball games. He was a three-year Ranger at the forward position working toward a teaching degree and hoping to one day coach. In 1970 he graduated with a Bachelor of Science and in 1974 got his Master of Education degree, and it was off to a career of teaching and coaching in Kansas and Texas respectively. More

 

Crayton Billboard

Northwestern Oklahoma State University Foundation and Alumni Association have developed a billboard to publicize its outstanding alums. The billboard went up about a week ago on the west side of Interstate-35 about two miles south of the Kansas-Oklahoma border and can be read traveling southbound. Janet Valencia, Northwestern Printing Services Coordinator, designed the billboard. More
